Whoever said coloring is just for toddlers was so wrong.
We need to continue giving tools to help teenagers cope. Do you have a teenager who has trouble falling asleep, focusing or just doesn’t get enough hours of sleep per night or perhaps spending too much time scrolling on social media before bedtime ?
One of my favorite de-stressors and relaxation exercises is coloring. There are numerous studies and research that show how coloring can improve mood, mindfulness and sleep. It reduces stress, anxiety and depression - in both teens and adults.
Leave coloring pages and colored pencils on your teen’s nightstand. They might stare at it for a while or ignore it perhaps. That’s ok. They’ll reach for it eventually.
